If you are following the discussion on "not so eager to share..." (below) you will understand these thoughts more clearly. Or maybe I am just not clearly understood. In either case here goes...
So yes, I am grieving the fact that Christians (and in this context, kids in schools) are not so eager to share their religion/beliefs which is now just one of many in Canada. But I am not upset that they are not more passionate or aggressive necessarily. What has stimulated some thinking upstairs is the notion that over the past several decades the Christian faith has indeed been taken for granted, maybe even become lax because of being in a "Christian" country.
So I ask, maybe regrettably so...
Has being a "Christian" country done us more harm than good where our faith is concerned? Has it given people a false impression of christianity and a lazy way out? We haven't had to exercise authentic faith in a lot of cases, particularly in school, because it has never been put to the test, put under fire or questioned.
That has changed and we all know it.
Instead of mourning that, it would do us well to embrace it and see how our faith stands up to the challenge. I believe faith flourishes and is strengthened when tested. Isn't it interesting how christianity is rapidly growing in places like China where they are persecuted and some are underground? Maybe now that Canada is getting closer and closer to looking like that we will see a resurgence in christianity in the western world too!! We are on the brink of something great, how exciting!
I am breaking out in song..........
There's a feelin' in the air
That God is everywhere
His resurrection power
is movin' in this hour
That Jesus might be glorified.
I love musicals.

Hmmmm.... your "not so eager to share" posts have me thinking. I feel sad, and at the same time eager to see what's around the bend for Christians in Canada. I feel inspired to raise my girls so that they will want to approach the pirncipal without my nudging but on their own accord. Thanks. Krista
