What are you Waiting For?

Last night after the boys' winter concert at school, I made some scrumptious hot chocolate, grabbed some Christmas cards to address, some gifts to wrap and headed downstairs. I had rented the movie, "The Terminal" (Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones) and was eager to finish it.

At first, I had a real hard time getting into this movie. It was driving me crazy and I was so frustrated that Victor could not leave the airport and everything was going wrong for him. I stuck with it though and was able to finish it on the second night.

If I only got one thing out of the entire movie, it was Amelia's point that Everyone is waiting for something. She'd been waiting her whole life for the life she wanted. She was waiting for her 'Prince Charming' to come for her even though he was pre-occupied with his own life, including his wife.

Is there any truth or reality to that? Aren't we all waiting for something? What are you waiting for...
...a better life?
...more fulfillment?
...a new job?
...someone to love?
...someone to notice you?
...recognition?
...achievement and success?
...peace?
...happiness?
...health?
...a loved one to accept God's grace and forgiveness?
...a better government?
...to be rescued from your situation?
...the return of Jesus?

But those who wait upon GOD get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get tired,
they walk and don't lag behind.

Interesting... couple weeks ago our gathering was on "waiting" and Pernell used a clip from this movie.

I wonder if God gets as frustrated with us as He watches us wait....
