After my purge I know what you're thinking, "what about giftedness?" "Not everyone is gifted to work with kids". I agree...to some extent.
I will oblige and agree with that fact that SOME people just cannot be with kids and I'm cool with that. BUT we all have gifts right? I don't see children's ministries as a gift rather I see children's ministries as a gift-based ministry. Get it? Let me continue...
If you have the gift of music and arts, why not invest it in the area of children's ministries...teaching and modeling authentic, undignified, new and creative ways to worship God at very young ages?
If you have the gift of teaching, why not invest it in the little sponges who are so eager to learn new things?
If your gift is hospitality why not shower the kids with your gift of kindness?
Let's not forget about the gifts that nurture and care for. Think about how much kids could benefit from that? They need to know they are cared for by other people besides their parents. They need community as much as we do.
And of course prayer. Gifted in this way? Kids need it badly.
Here's my Beef:
There are never enough people willing to share the load of children's ministries.
Here's What Makes Sense to Me:
If children are important to God (which they are) and if there is kingdom potential in every little soul (which there is) and if lost children matter to God (which they do), wouldn't it make sense that God would provide enough people with the right gifts in order to nurture them in their faith, on their journey?
That just makes sense to me. I believe whole heartedly that he does. He has provided people with the proper gift mixes and they are all around us...they are us!
So where is everyone?
Running and hiding I think!
