At Their Mecry

It is a good thing I am able to laugh at myself and all the mishaps I end up in. Honestly. If I couldn't, I would be one stressed-out, up-tight freak! Today's situation is a typical 'Leslie misfortune'....

As you are well aware, I went away for a week all by myself. I was going away for a special family occasion, and as you can tell by the photos, it was a dress-up do!

I never get to dress up and therefore have a very limited selection of things to wear. My dress-up affairs are so infrequent that when one rolls around, my dress-up outfit is either way out-dated, out of season or way too small, (hee hee)!

For this event I decided I would step it up a notch on the apparal and give my nails a make over too! I always wanted to try out those gel nails and now I had a good reason. I called the salon before I left and fell over when they told me they would cost a whoppin' $75. No way would I (or could I) ever spend that much. I declined and went off across the country with my own nails. When I got to my sister's (two days before driving to the 'party town') I found a place that did them for $30. Yikes! I talked myself into the splurge of the century.

I am back home now. It has been two weeks with these claws and I can't take it a second longer! They are a mess and need to be filled. My intention was not to keep filling them because 1) it ruins your nails and 2) it costs $40 every two weeks! and 3) I can't handle it! Every time I drop a dime at the store I can't pick it up and the cashier is waiting and the line up is waiting and I am getting flustered and I can't pick the darn thing up with these friggin' nails!!!!

While out running errands, I popped into the salon to have them take the bloody things off. I thought I should check on a fee first. I expected to pay nothing but then my better judgement kicked in and I asked. $40. Yup! that's right $40 to take 'em off and $40 to fill 'em up! They know what they are doing! They know we are at their mercy. I left.

Later ended up at Walmart with an $8 solution to do it yourself. Supposed to soak for 2 mins and rub them off. It's been 25 minutes and they aren't budging!!! My skin is disappearing but those nails are staying strong! Beautiful, just beautiful. What a typical thing to happen to Leslie!

Vainity sucks!

the only shot i could see you nails is was the last one with your big sister, your hand on her shoulder and nails just peeking out, ever so slightly. did you google it, see if there's a way to get them off?

Well.... lucky for you... I learned how to do those nasty nails.... take a nail file and file them down (file the top flat of your nail so there isn't so much of a ridge where your new nail is growing in) then buy something called 'ridge filler' - it's a nail polish that you can paint on the root of your nail to blend in the new growth to the old gel. It should do you till they grow out - you can keep trying to file them off until they fall off.... but DON'T peel them off because they will peel layers of your beautiful nails off too. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up. If ever I need to look glamorous, I'll not bother doing anything to my nails....
