'Stars' on Ice

Today we were in a big mess, trying to take down Chrsitmas decorations and clean house before my m.i.l. arrives tomorrow from the east coast (been alomst 2yrs since she's seen the kids). With boxes and clutter up to the ying-yang we took a much needed break and went skating. Peter and Amanda invited us to 'their' lake and we had a great time...thanks guys. Unfortunately I don't own skates, but having friends in high places with access to a private lake, I gotta get me some yo! (sorry the boys' lingo just rubs off on me sometimes)!

Julia wore skates for the very first time, she loved it! (who wouldn't like being pushed and pulled around while enjoying the free ride?) Jacob put skates on for the first time in a couple of years...poor guy, he might as well have never worn them before and was frustrated at himself for not being able to do it. His boots were back on after a few attempts. Joel was fine, thanks to his hockey drills and enjoyed a little shinny with Steve and Peter and the rest of the gang on the ice. It felt so good to be out in the fresh air. Hopefully I'll have skates the next time. I will start my thrift store (or maybe free-cycle?) shopping. At least I got to try out my new boots...thanks Santa!

Looks like fun! I love the hat too.... I'm afraid it doesn't really get cold enough here to ever wear a hat... or else I would love to have one too!

we packed up the christmas stuff yesterday, and glad to be done with. that lake looks great, no snow to shovel?

nope. no snow and very mild. not sure how the lake stays frozen.

Wonderful pictures! It hasn't been cold enough here to have a lake freeze over - not at all. Which is weird for the Maritimes, don't you think?? Glad you had fun!
