Whatever

This weekend was indcredibly full, without a spare moment. It was all good but I am feeling rather tired now. It seems when life gets exciting, inspiring, full of hope, something is said or done to shoot it all down the crapper. Why is it that a speck of negative destroys a bundle of positive? I guess that's spiritual warfare for you, and we are certainly feeling the weight of it. Not only for us, but for another (who shared with us) feeling the same weight on a completely different level.

We had a great day yesterday and were very encouraged by the presence, the air the feeling, the crowd and of course the new faces. Last night we held a get-together for a target group to see the level of interest for a smal group. 100% of that target group (minus one working) came out, enough for two groups! We had 13 kids and 17 adults in our home. So exciting!

Joel had an hour of hockey (scoring 4 goals yay!) before church. As soon as church was over we headed to the saddledome for him to play more. It was too much for the little tykes and they were dragging their feet by the end.

Administration day today until the school called with sick Joel in the office. Had to pack it up, pick him up and bring home work to finish tonight.

This afternoon, we finalized all three sets of valentine's for the kids tomorrow. The whole concept has changed a lot from when we were kids. Back in the day you gave out valentine's to your friends and crushes. That is how you found out who 'liked' you and who didn't. Now, (thank goodness) you come with one for everyone or no one. Why didn't they enforce these type of 'rules' decades ago? They could have prevented lots of hurt feelings and crushed spirits leading to esteem problems. And now, instead of giving out just cards, candy is the order of the day! The kids come home with loot bags full of goodies. I watch (practically drooling) in anticipation that they may offer me some of the sweet delights, but I pretty much have to beg (or cry...ha kidding...sort of!).

Tomorrow is my day to volunteer at school, but Joel will quite possibly be too sick to go. I could use the time anyway, they are in school until Wednesday then are off for 5 days. Call me ineffective, but I don't get much done when they are home and there is always lots to do.

There's an update. Time to put kids to bed and work some more. Maybe I'll get a good night sleep tonight, maybe not.

When I was in school, we had to give everyone Valentines whether we wanted to or not. But I would usually not give one to the kid who made fun of me!

For the past few years, we have been giving out the Big Boy (restaurant) Valentines that offer a free kids meal...the parents love it!

Five days off? Is it spring break already? What the heck?

Trinity, that is a great idea!

Lori, Nope, spring break is next month oh and then it is a week off around Easter too. This is just teacher conferences built around family day. No, not kidding!
