The Dash

We've all been in a cemetery. Looking at the headstones there are two dates. The beginning and end of the life being represented. Between those two dates (birth and death) as you know, is a dash. Really the dash is the most important thing on the stone. The dash tells the story. The dash represents the life, the character, and the contribution that the individual carried out on earth.

I was challenged this weekend with the meaning of the dash. My dash. What will it represent? What will I be remembered for? Will I be one that goes through life toiling day in and day out but accomplishing nothing of eternal worth? Or, will I make a lasting contribution to community and global concerns? Will my story, my life, have made any difference in lives of others?

Hmmmm..........

I've always said that my epitaph is going to say "Here I lay me all in a stitch, wondering how to get rid of this itch!" haha!

This was a great post and something that we should all think about. Definitly something I need to think about more, it makes me realize all I dont do and yet I should. I love when you post stuff like this that really gets me thinking and sets some things back into the right place. You rock:)
