Sippin' coffee on a sunny Monday morning

Ah, the comforts of home.

I can't believe it is April already. Just sent the boys back to school this morning after spring break and they are now in the last days of this school year. Summer is fast approaching and I was hoping to have it all planned out by now. No such luck. No plans yet.

We had a great weekend. It was so good to get away and have a short change of scenery even though it is a pain drving around in a city you don't know. But, as we always do, we managed just fine and found everything we were looking for.

This was the first time I was actually able to carry on conversations with, and get to know the other hockey moms. Incredible. It was so good for me and even though the season is over, I sense some playdates and coffeedates ahead.

The rink we played in all weekend was very dinky with only a small seating area behind one net. Thankfully it was the net we were shooting at or I would not have been able to see any of the goals or activities around the net. But the greatest part of all was being able to see the expression on Joel's face when he scored. He scored the first goal of the tournament. The second game was unevenly matched with kids that towered over ours in size (and obviously age too). The third game was our victory game although they did not officially take score. It was a 'fun' weekend not a competitive one. Joel (as well as 3 other kids) got a hat-trick. After their third goal they were not allowed to score anymore. Twice after that Joel was on a breakaway or alone in front of the net but shot the puck back to give someone else a chance. The whole team did really well. They played as a team with a lot of passing, and falling, oh so cute. I will post some pics later.

p.s. SO SORRY NAV....completely forgot to send off that info....was in such a tizzy...feel like an idiot for forgetting....

Every hotel in the city was booked with this tournament of nations. The kids had a wicked time. All throughout the hotel hallways kids were playing mini sticks. The pool was tiny and full of kids...eww! I didn't go in the first night with them but on Saturday I ventured into the cloudy from the night before, water. Gag! The things you do for your kids.

After the game on Saturday we went straight to West Ed and hit Galaxyland. Talk about busy! When an amusement park is so loud you can't talk to your family or so busy you're constantly on the lookout, holding everyone's hand and getting seperated from the other half of your family, it kind of takes the edge off of the fun. Either that orI am getting old. Julia kept getting mad at me because I was 'yelling in her ear'. I wasn't yelling but it was the only way to communicate.
Despite all that, we had fun. The kids got to do everything they wanted to and were ready to leave after a few hours.

This morning we all got up pretty tired. Joel was yawning and rubbing his eyes as he headed out to catch the bus. And, as good as it is to get away, there is no place like home!

Ah yes - Galaxyland! Did you get on the roller coaster? That is the only ride I have been on there and it is SCARY! During the week it's not so crowded there, so maybe you could take a week off sometime and head up there again. Just a thought. I absolutely love the waterpark too! We will probably go there while we are in Alberta next month!
Great post!

Sounds like you guys had a packed and fun weekend. Galaxyland.....oh the memories. lol. I use to love that place when I was growing up. Although I never once went on that rollercoaster and I imagine I never will, I am terrified of them.
