An endangered species

Today I was given the impression that people like me are an endangered species, so to speak. My kind are becoming few and far between and closer to extinction as each year passes. Apparently I am rare. I never knew and find it hard to believe actually.

I went to the hairdresser today. I rarely go...it's way too expensive and I'm never satisfied but this is all beside the point.

I was mentioning to her my 'need' for change and some thoughts I had for colours and style, even though I had already decided any form of colouring just didn't fit in the budget. She looked at my hair and said she couldn't/wouldn't colour it even if I wanted to. She seemed a little stunned that my hair colour was natural.

So while sitting in the chair staring at the caped figure in the mirror she went on to inform me that natural blondes are becoming extinct. "get out" I thought, "we are everywhere".

I questioned her statement of fact and she proceeded to tell me that researchers have found that due to the increase in inter-racial marriages (especially in Scandinavian countries) blondes are becoming more and more rare. I was still a little suspicious of her findings thinking she was just trying to make me feel good. Maybe she could sense that I was really feeling like crap and was trying to help.

Then she said she has been living and working here for three years and I am the first 'one' she has worked on.

Hmph.

Huh??

So apparantly I am a rare bird

or maybe....

a queer duck.

Well, that is interesting. I have my natural color hair (never colored it) but am not blonde. I do have natural blonde highlights. Will that make me endangered?

A beautiful rare bird, indeed. Don't you dare colour your hair! Women have been trying for years to get from a bottle the colour that God has blessed you with!

My mom (a hairdresser) could tell you the same thing. She has hardly any natural blondes...and most of her costumers come in to be a blonde!

researchers believe natural blonde's will be extinct in less than two hundred years. Check it out for yourself
