I am not sure why, but it seems whenever I am looking for a great deal I can't find one and when I don't need anything they are everywhere. That bugs me.

My duaghter is very into appearance and I don't know if I should be concerned or not. Life is all about princesses and everything beautiful. Today, while going through the grocery check-out, she was smitten by all the the 'beautiful ladies' on the magazines. I would usually nod in agreement but today I went on a bit about not having to look like that to be beautiful. It is a hard world for girls to grow up in, heck it is even hard for us grown ups.
Before going to moms and tots this morning, I was wearing a black tee and black yoga pants. She told me that my outfit was not beautiful, but if I changed into something else before going out, then I would look beautiful.

Jacob has a drum recital on Saturday. He is very reluctant to play in front of people and had decided he wasn't going to do it. I had a 'sit-down' with him and said how much it would mean to me to be able to hear him. I got to watch Joel play hockey and will get to see Julia dance in a few weeks and would love to be there to cheer him on too. He is afraid of messing up in a huge crowd. I was able to assure him that it wouldn't be a huge crowd, just moms and dads there to hear their kids. Finally, after today's lesson and run down with his teacher, he agreed. He will be beating the drum to "Seven Nation Army." :)

I prefer musicals on stage and not on the silver screen. We watched The Producers last night. Did not care for it as a movie but would have really enjoyed it live. There are however exceptions to this rule and maybe they are trying to make money hoping that each one they try as a movie will be 'the exception'. I don't know. Anyway, there are two exceptions in my humble opinion. The two musical movies that I love, love, love are Grease and Rent. If you haven't seen Rent, I highly recommend it. Beautiful, story and even got a tear out of me which doesn't happen a lot especially via movies. Steve got it for me as a surprise and I can't wait to see it again...and again and again.

I agree with find deals...when I don't have any money, the sales are everywhere!!! Ahhh, such is life I guess.
whooo whooo . . . good mom alert!
Girls can be tricky...the beauty thing could be a bit a phase but i would still use every opportunity to teach her that beauty isn't everything. Kick it in butt now before she's 13!!!
There is such a delicate balance in the whole world of beauty. You want them to respect themselves and the way they look... but not obsess over it. Parenting is such a fine line! Good luck! As long as you keep instilling your family values...she will get it some day. Those are all teachable moments!
Jeremy and I went to see RENT a few months ago and we loved it too. It took a while for us to get past the uncomfortable feeling that you tend to get in the beginning where they first introduce everyone and their situations. It was really a great movie and a good message. However, I would rather see it live I think!
