A Fish Out of Water

I am babysitting a little one today. He is 16 months and as cute as a button. I do however, feel like a fish out of water. Even though I have done this three times over (and did it well I might add), it is amazing how much you forget after being several years removed from it. So today I 'm having fun retraining myself in the baby department and revisiting all the aspects I no longer think about like:
  • carrying a diaper bag everywhere you go.
  • changing diapers.
  • bringing a stroller with you when you go out.
  • re-learning how to open the stroller.
  • re-learning how to fold it up again.
  • Taking down a playpen (that took a while).
  • bibs and schedules and naps.
  • cuttting tiny portions to avoid choking.
  • climbing up and around the playground administering help all along the way.
  • finding excitement in every bird and dog that goes by.

One thing I haven't forgotten is that pots and pans and wooden spoons are the best toys ever!

We are having a great day together. Since Julia's been home she has been a wonderful help and treating him like a doll.

Children are so precious.

and 'no' I don't want another.

It is so much work when they are little. Everytime we go out it's like we have to bring the whole house with us.

Julia is such a doll herself...she is going to make a wonderful mommy some day!

I love getting my "fix" if you will when Sally comes over with Gabe. As much as I think I would love to have another, I'm having a hard time picturing it.

I know exactly what you mean Leslie and I have a two year old! It's amazing how fast you forget. Soon enough, though, I'll be somewhat a pro at it again...I hope...haha...Not looking forward to hauling all the stuff again. We were just starting to get rid of that stuff.
