Not every day is a good day and that's....okay. I'm cool with that. Nothing that a little alone time with God & Darlene can't fix.

I think the magic and excitement of believing in Santa is fun for kids but it does have its downfalls. We play with our kids, encouraging them to believe in something not real and then get faced with an obstacle. How do you tell a 4-yr-old, who believes in Santa, that the one thing she has her heart set on for Christmas is nowhere to be found in stores. Every shipment that comes in is quickly sold out before we get in on the action. According to her, Santa's elves will make her one.

My 7 yr old is playing hockey again this year. He is now in 'Novice' hockey. The difference in him now compared to this time last year is incredible, and so are the hockey demands. My goodness, I think hockey parents cater their whole lives and schedules around their kids hockey. He is playing a lot more this year and is all over the map with dates, times and arenas! I don't get to see him very often due to two other kids and their stuff and mine, but when I do, he loves it (and so do I). Last night I got to watch him play and even had a lump in my throat as he scored 3 goals (one on a beautiful breakaway)! Of course I would be proud with or without the goals (ehem).
I am very encouraged by our community and the support we get when it comes to his hockey. The fact is we can't make every ice time. It is such a great feeling to have 'extended family' who are willing to pitch in and help , even if it creates a lot of head scratching and wondering by the other parents when Joel is brought by a few different men :)

Over the past few weeks we have heard via email from some who were a significant part of our lives in Mississauga (well still are but seperated by miles). Friends, thanks for keeping in touch and filling us in on your lives. We love you and miss you tons! Matt, the picture of you and Julia is adorable. We have one like it and it is framed in her room!
I was super excited to hear from another friend from Mississauga last night (who was on my mind that day) too. I can't believe she is moving to my city.....how cool is that? I can't wait to catch up with her.

My hubby and I decided not to have our son believe in Santa. It was a hard decision, since I grew up believing in him (but I was crushed when I found out he wasn't real), but we thought that it would be better for our son to know about Santa and not believe in him. We thought that if our son believed in Santa and then found out he wasn't real, that he might think that Jesus was made up as well.
Have you tried ebay?
We've done the same thing, sort of. For a while we explained about Santa but that he was not real and didn't fly around giving gifts that his elves made. However, even though we laid the truth out there, my youngest still believes. I think she totally got caught up in the excitement from other kids, daycare, and TV
You mean Santa isnt real????
Have I mentioned how much I love the new look of your blog?!
