Thanksgiving Blessings

I love Thanksgiving, it is like Christmas without all the gift distractions, 100% quality time together.

It was a fantastic weekend and now I am so ready to flop into bed. On Saturday afternoon I took the kids to see Open Season with our passes. It was pretty good, although I must admit I did doze off for a wee bit.

After a wonderful Thanksgiving worship gathering we came home and charged through the house, trying to make it presentable for our small group who would be meeting in the late afternoon. As a group, we enjoyed a delicious meal together (especially those yummy sweet potatoes with marshmallows) and as always some great fellowship. I think next time I'm going to bring pictionary out and see what kind of response I get ;)

This morning I dragged my sorry butt out of bed by 6:15 to prepare the turkey and put it in the oven. Everyone sound asleep, the neighbourhood pitch black, not a single light on in any of the homes except mine, revealing my frightful bedhead and half-opened eyes as I chopped onions and fried sausages.

By 9:00 the football game was on and we had a great turn out of both players and spectators. I only watched for a bit and headed back to work in the kitchen.

At 1:30 my neighbours came over and we began our feast. I really like them and am glad they were brave enough to share a meal with the Wiseguys! As soon as the last morsel of pumpkin pie was gone we went out and played street hockey. Yes...even me! Can you believe it?

Now I am going to kick back and savour the quiet until it starts all over again tomorrow!
