Last night was a such a peaceful and enjoyable family night. Steve's meeting was cancelled so we all stayed in while the snow came down. Looking out the window, it was all white, a blanket of snow seen only by the soft glow of the street lamp. Beautiful. I hope it is like that on Christmas. We put on the fire and enjoyed its warmth.
During that time I planned Julia's upcoming birthday party. Now that I have the plans I am getting quite excited and feeling great about it. We are having a "Teddy & Me" party with all games, crafts and snacks having to do with teddy bears. It is amazing what you can pull together when you have a theme. The only hang up was the birthday cake. She desperately wanted a princess cake. I on the other hand, had troubles with this because it doesn't fit the theme. I wanted to make a teddy bear cake but she was not interested. Then Steve suggested a Care Bear cake which kind of settled it for both of us. She agreed because it is pink and girly and I was fine because it fits the bear theme.
This is going to be so much fun, I can't wait!

Just goes to show you-two heads are better than one. Nice job, team!
That reminded me of the conversation I had with Julia on Sunday. She told me that she had $5.00 that she really wanted to spend on buying her own birthday cake. I asked her 'maybe your mom is going to make a beautiful cake for you'. She responded, 'well, my mom made my cake last year and it was a lot of work, I don't want to have her make a cake again this year. And besides, if mom makes the cake, what will I do with my $5.00??' She always finds a way to brighten my day!
i had a carebear cake when I was a kid. it was the best cake ever...I find it so strange that things like that are cool again (but really, could carebears NOT be cool?)
good luck with the party!
what, you've got snow already???
here i thought the rain we were having was a nuisance.
i can't get over this, i have to go back and read the rest now.
i don't know, i don't think i would have pushed for a bear cake, i'd let her have a princess one. none of my kids actually like cake, my oldest gets cheesecake, my son gets pie and my youngest likes cupcakes.
good luck with the party!
