Earth Day

That's what today is. A significant day to remember and plan and talk about ways to go green and consume less. Get the whole family involved by doing things like:
  • turning off water when brushing teeth.
  • take quick baths and showers, put less water in the tub for a bath.
  • walk, bike or carpool instead of drive.
  • Use only bio-degradable cleaning products. Vinegar and baking soda work just as well as harsh chemicals.
  • make your own coffee and use travel mug OR bring your own mug to the coffee shop instead of using cardboard.
  • buy products with less packaging.
  • reuse, reduce and recycle as much as possible.
  • hang your clothes instead of using the dryer.
  • keep the lights off whenever possible.
  • Use a washable cloth for cleaning instead of paper towel.
  • Consume less. Before every purchase ask: "Do I really need this?"

These are only a few of many things you can do with your family, not just today but regularly. If we make this a practice while our kids are young, imagine the difference it will make in them (and the earth) as they grow up. It will become a natural part of them and what they do.

Here is a great craft to do for earth day.
