Stuff

Julia has been bugging me for days (Literally) to scrapbook with her. She is working on an album and feels all grown up when we can do it together. I however had all of my stuff packed away and haven't done anything in months! Fiinally I relented, even though there is always stuff to do around the house that prevents me from plunking down in the middle of the chores needing to be done. I was feeling bad for putting her off. So, bit by bit we hauled everything up the stairs onto the kitchen table. It put the table out of commission for the week and therefore we had to eat in the TV room. How fortunate for the boys that it was the Stanley Cup finals week, right at supper time! We never eat in front of the TV.

My creative juices are a bit thick these days and not flowing too smoothly. I just could not get into it. Julia was whipping off page after page while it took me 3 days for one layout. 3 days!

Last night as we were sitting at the table, working very hard Julia asked, "mom, am I a reptile or a mammal...cause mammals have fur?" So cute. I love it when they make me laugh. And I can see how that would be a confusing one.

This morning, Joel comes to the breakfast table wearing a clean white T-shirt that I picked up for his concert (and was hoping to keep it on hand for more concerts in the future). I said, "Joel, I don't think it is a good idea for you to wear a white shirt to school, it is going to get all stained and dirty and ruined."

"Oh that's okay mom, it will just get a few grass stains when I play football and soccer at recess."

"Exactly Joel, grass stains are the worst and don't come out."

"OH YES THEY DO, didn't you see that new Sunlight commercial?? It even takes ot grass stains. You need to get that stuff mom."

I let him go, not because the sunlight 3x concentrate works (because it doesn't), but because the t-shirt was $4, bordering on being too small, and not worth the energy of a fight.

I am so enjoying my kids these days but wish they would stay this age forever. I am in denial that they will ever get bigger, graduate and leave home.
