Anticipation

My favourite thing about Christmas has always been the wait. The advent period. The weeks leading up to and preparing for. The carols, the pageants, the sights and smells and the fellowship. I came across this today and love it.............

DEAR GOD,
The presents are almost all wrapped. The shopping is almost done. All we have left is the waiting. So help us remember that the waiting is as much a blessing as the holiday. Help us use these days as preparation to ready ourselves for the arrival of your son. Help us make those around us aware that the waiting is a celebration. That the anticipation of Christmas will make it even more joyous. So let us burst with joy as the shpherds did. Let us sing like the angels did. Let us open our eyes and ears to the sights and the sounds of the season and open our hearts to the glory and wonder of the baby Jesus. Amen.
