Wow! It's been an entire week since I have sat at this computer to share my thoughts. I was occupied with Christmas and family and cooking, you know all that fun stuff. The last of my 'company' left today and here we are back to normal (whatever that is). Our home is dishevelled now with the remnants of Christmas gifts littering the floor along with moving boxes. Lots of boxes, some packed and sealed, some folded waiting to be filled and set aside.
Christmas was swell with good food, nice gifts and family time. We played lots of games and then retired them all into a deep dark cardboard box for another time... in another place.
I sometimes wonder what the next chapter in our lives will be like, as I pack up memories of here and the only place the kids really know as 'home'. I wonder what God has in store for us, the friends we'll make, the relationships we'll foster.
It is quite amazing how much stuff you accumulate over time. I have been able to sift through and sort out all of the things that we can do without, making our load a little lighter and less over- bearing. Why do we hold on to so much junk? Why do we find it hard to give up? Generally I am pretty good at weeding out but holy smokes have I missed a lot!
The same could be said of our lives don't you think? We tend to carry a lot of junk around that has no value or benefit to us. It only weighs us down, making it harder to get to where we want to be. We hold on to hurts, guilt, doubt, fear and shame, causing tremendous strain. I think that before we can successfully turn the page, proceeding to the next chapter in our lives, we have to sift through, sort out and get rid of all unnecessary baggage...there is a limit you know, and when you surpass your limit you pay for it!!

Hebrews 12:1-2..words to live by. Thanks for the reminder.. :)
When you leave for Calgary your children will too add a new chapter to their young lives. And you will see that God is indeed in control and will help you sift through some of the junk that you wil carry with you.
I hope this year is not only a new journey and chapter in your lives but that it is filled with new amazing memories and overflowing with the joy and love of Jesus!!!
