Classic Carols or Modern Versions?

There is an unwritten rule about Christmas traditions--every family has them and you don't mess with them or Christmas is not Christmas. In every other area, I don't favour traditions too much, but when it comes to Christmas I count on them. There are some traditions that I grew up with that I have adopted into my own family and other traditions that we began when we started our family.

One such tradition is the music we play. Steve and I both love Christmas music and have a huge collection. Some of it is better than others and gets a lot more air-time in our home. Some are traditional classics and others are more contemporary and modern. I tend to prefer the classics over the modern versions. I grew up listening to my mom's LPs at Christmas time. She was always playing either Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra or Kenny and Dolly. Now, every Christmas in our home I reach for these same artists (yes even Kenny and Dolly, I can't have Christmas without Kenny and Dolly).

How 'bout you? do you prefer the classics or the modern versions? Check this out.

I almost died when I walked in and you were playing Kenny G Christmas music in your office!!! It made me chuckle, usually you have the tunes going pretty loudly with the walls vibrating - so it made me laugh.

YES!!! How could I forget Boney M? Boney M was a huge part of our Christmas collection growing up. I now have another thing to add to my wish list! I wonder if you can even find Boney M any more? Weird!

Laugh if you want...

It's not Christmas for me without Amy Grant. I love her old Christmas albums.
