Something really neat happened while I was away. I got the chance to meet up with an old friend. Let me tell you about her.
We grew up in the same neighbourhood together. We started Kindergarten together and went all through school together as friends. I used to be at her house all the time. We used to sneak frozen strawberries from her mom's freezer downstairs. She introduced me to "squeeze cheese". Literally cheese that you squeeze through a tube and put on crackers. We used to pig out after school. We partnered together for science fair projects. We even won second prize for our hairspray experiment. Speaking of, we went through the "eighty's hair" together and have pictures to prove it!
We graduated high school and then went our seperate ways. Only a few short years after high school, I got married. She stood for me. She went off to university, I went off to College for Officer training in the Salvation Army.
As time past our own individual lives continued to develop. We kept in touch via Christmas cards. She became an engineer and eventually moved out west. Met her husband at work and is now enjoying life as 'mom' with her new daughter.
When I arrived in Calgary, I called her. We set up a time and I got to visit her and her daughter. We had a great time together, without the squeeze cheese!
Thanks for the tea Jayne!
