Today I return home from a little 'get-away', 'escape' with some of my girlfriends. We went to a country inn/bed and breakfast and it was spectacular!!!!
It all began when the first three of us made our way just outside the city on Friday afternoon. It was quiet, relaxed and stress free (I love having no agenda!). Just what I needed after a week of packing. We found our way into the town and came across a charming little tea room. We went in and enjoyed the best scones and tea I have ever tasted--Deelish!!
We fought the temptation to go into the little shops (we were reserving that for the next day), and made our way to the inn. This place is gorgeous! The innkeeper welcomed us along with her golden retriever and showed us around her home. I especially enjoyed trotting up and down the grand spiral staircase. Everything about it was quaint yet exceptionally spacious and windowy (I don't know how else to describe all of the uncovered windows!
We were early so relaxed in front of the fire in the great room. Another host brewed a steaming pot of coffee and placed it before us. As we sat there, perefctly at home the rest of our gang started arriving.
The innkeepers basically gave up their home to us and we had the place to ourselves. We ordered in and had loads of snacks. After a while we all got in our jammies and sat around the dim room with the comfort of a glowing fire.
We brought out games and movies but never got around to either. We were just talking, sharing, laughing. The next thing we knew it was 2 am. (This is very late for moms with no party life you know!)
I am so grateful for friends. There is something so sweet about girl-talk!
I am moved by the fact that they would all take that time out of their busy lives, adjusting schedules to be with me before I go.
I will miss them.
