Tonight I heard the ideal 'catch-phrase'/ slogan for any church only it didn't come from a church...."You're among friends at Boston Pizza" . They know what people are looking for don't they? Community. Relationships. We could learn a lot from Boston Pizza.
Problem is, you can't market what you don't have. You can't promote community if you're not living it. Kinda makes me want to go to Boston Pizza to see if they stand up to their word.
Mmmmmm pizza!

For Sure!
yeah, except when was last time you made a friend at boston pizza? it's a great tag line but that's about it.

I think the only way you ccould actually make friends there is if you were a regular visitor (like church).
However, if they were serious about there mission and mandate, they would as a collective team do whatever it took to make people feel welcome, comfortable and important. Just as a friend would.
I guess having been on a couple of extended biz trips I've noticed how lonely restaurants can be. Most Churches I've been too are way more welcoming. But I get where you're coming from. Sorry for being a grump.

Thanks for your comments.
Dave, I am glad you have found churches you've been to warm and welcoming...that's the way it is supposed to be and that is the way it often is. I wasn't trying to suggest that churches were unfriendly but that we sometimes lose our focus. We are usually great at expressing community and friendship among ourselves but not to the new person or the visitor. If our approach were that of BP (for example) we would go out of our way for our friends, old, new and yet to be.
P.S. I did not take you to be a grump.
Jayne, I am glad to see that BP lived up to its name for you.
