I think it timely to say that even though there are some things that I hate about being a pastor, I do not hate being a pastor. I am mature enough to be able to let certain things roll off my back and my skin is getting thicker (sometimes I need to spew first, that's all!)
Also, even though I don't like some of the things some people say and do and expect, DOES NOT mean I don't like these people. I am able to look beyond all that and still love people regardless. No lies, that's who I am...I love people.
Now what do I LOVE about being a pastor....I love people. I love being with people, sharing with people, walking with people, crying with people, laughing with people.
I love to support people and to be able to be there for them. I love listening to them and hearing their stories. I love to be in community with people.
I love opening up my home to people and making them feel comfortable here. I love sitting around a room with people reading God's word and praying together and sharing joys and struggles.
If this is what people (anywhere, anytime) are looking for in a pastor then I am encouraged and motivated to press on. If people are looking for Business Managers and Marketers (anywhere, anytime), to grow into a Willowcreek then I will be a disappointment. I don't like the feeling of being a disappointment!
That's not all I love about being a pastor but that is the main thing for me...PEOPLE!

Dang. I was hoping for "10,000 more by 2024!" ;)
You guys are great. We're glad you're here and we appreicate who you are. I know Lori really appreciates and benefits from your relationship.
yeah, you're in a tough place were we haven't had pastors for 4 years and there is a mix of past visions. It's going to take time for that to work it's self out.
The people who come from the biz side of things really do care and are trying their best to help. My guess is they wouldn't catch the Willocreek reference.

Thanks Dave, I know people do care and are trying to help and I wasn't referring to any person in particular, nor was I referring to my present church only. It comes with the territory of pastoring no matter where you go...people have different values and when they don't jive there is some sort of tension.
We love you Leslie, we truly do!
We love you Leslie, oh yes we do!
When you're not with us, it sucks!
Oh Leslie we love you, oh yes we do!

hey, this is rachael - the crazy australian who crashed your place to go to the 24-7 prayer conference all those months ago.
just have to say that we really did feel welcome in your home and I love that you find joy in embracing strangers like that. hey, I have since been called to officership so want to thank you also for revealing a bit more for me about what it really is to be an officer - loving people.
Will try to keep up with your blog - is awesome to read what's going on!
