As if my life didn't already have more than its quota of drama, we had to be attacked by stingy buzzers on three, occasions this week!
First victim: Rocky.
Outside in the early evening sniffing around to find the 'spot', there suddenly appeared a multitude of nasty, fierce hornets (or wasps, what's the dif?) They all attacked him, buried themselves in his fur and began their torture! I don't think I have ever heard so much noise coming from a dog before. We are talking yelping, crying for mercy, running all around the yard screeching. One was holding on extra hard, I couldn't get him off. I did the only thing I could think of, I sprayed him down with the hose, leaving him wimpering, soaking and shivering.
Next victim: Jacob.
Two days later Jacob is outside playing with his friend. They were returning from an extra hot bike ride for a drink. I was in the back, he in the front. Before he reached the back and was in my view, he began to screech. I brushed it off thinking he and his brother were fighting again. But he didn't let up and sounded in agony. I ran to him and there was another nasty bugger drilling a hole in the back of his leg. Ouch!
Third victim: Jacob.
So, yesterday afternoon the kids and I were returning from the video store. The traffic was thick but we were in no rush. We were cruising along with the windows rolled down feeling the air on our face...ahhh..it was refreshing, until I heard a 'clunk' on my window frame. Hmm, that was odd. I wondered what it was and then the screeching began again. "mommy stop the van! mommy, a giant bee!!" Well, I couldn't stop, nor could I pull over there was too much traffic and no where to go! "mommy!!" "mommy!" I turn my head around and see him clutching his shorts. Now everyone is panicking! The other two join in the screaming and crying while I'm approaching the intersection. "Hold on! I can't pull over!!!"
(I thought I might as well join in the yelling).
As soon as I could, I pulled over. It seemed an eternity. I go to rescue the 3 victims and check out the damage. Wow! He wasn't kiddin' , it was enormous! Eventually I got him out of the van. I checked for stings but he was just grabbing onto Jacob, giving him the fright of his life!
Group hugs on the side of the street and we went on our way.
sigh.
bigger sigh.
I wonder what today will bring.
I think the neighbourhood is wondering the same thing.
