Today is the BIG day. Joel is 6 TODAY!!! It was rainy all day, but nothing could get him down, it was his SPECIAL day. It began when Steve, Jacob and I woke him up by serenading the BIRTHDAY SONG with Steve strumming away on the ukulele with a missing string! Kisses and hugs and cheers and even a PRESENT!!Off he went to school. I sent him with a goodie bag of LOLLIPOPS to hand out to his classmates to CELEBRATE his happy day!! When he came home I was bursting and full of questions...did they sing happy birthday? Did they recognize your day? Did the teacher say 'Happy Birthday?' I was both surprised and crushed when he said, No. No. No. Well, did you tell her it was your birthday? "yes mom, but she didn't say anything." THE NERVE. Who does that??
Anyway, even that little disappointment didn't ruin his day. We took the kids for their first swimming lesson of the fall and then took Joel out for supper. For his birthday, the servers got him to stand on the chair while they sang and made a scene and got him to spin the prize wheel. He was so embarrassed.
Tomorrow morning we pick up the ever so special star wars YODA cake, do a power clean and decorate for the PARTY!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOEL!! I love you so, so much. You brighten my days. Thanks for always looking for your hugs....I need them as much as you!
BTW...Joel was born on 9.9.99....cool eh?
