Plan B

The trailer has been in our driveway for over a week now. The first week was spent gathering all necessary supplies and preparing the van for extra cargo. We wanted to take it out for a one nighter to try it out, but our weekends have been too full. We thought we would be able to fit it in for family night last night and be back this morning before ballet lessons.

The plan was that we would open the trailer and have it all packed and ready to go. When the kids got home from school on Friday, we'd pile in the van and head down the road to the Elbow Valley/Bragg Creek area and spend the night. However it rained all week and we didn't get the chance to pop it open and pack it up.

The sun finally decided to show up late Friday afternoon. Since we were not prepared to go anywhere, we chose plan B and spent our family night packing up the trailer. Jacob was a proud dad's helper setting it up and taking it down, I packed all the cupboards with dishes and other necessities and Joel and Julia jumped on the beds. Eventually they were all squeeling and playing. They even ran in the house, put on jammies, grabbed blankets and stuffies and pretended to camp while I packed. Good times both had, and anticipated!

Today Julia had her last ballet lesson for the year. She even got a report card and did very well. Her dress rehearsal is Wednesday night so I get another go at the full make-up deal. By Saturday's big show, I should be able to do it no problem. We are not allowed to take pictures during the show, that stinks, but hopefully I will be able to on Wednesday.

This afternoon, we headed to the University campus for Jacob's drum recital. He was very nervous all day and continually spoke of being afraid adding, "I hope I'm not first."

I sat him down on the couch and we had a prayer. When we got there and got our programs, we noticed Jacob was first up. :) Ah... he did great, and once he got going he wasn't so nervous. We were so, so proud. When he was finished, Julia blurted out, "that was awesome!" She got a good chuckle from the surrounding crowd.

I love my kids. A lot. They are wonderful and full of spirit.
