Yes, it is bitter cold. So cold, my hands stick to the door knob while locking the door. That styrofoam squeak beneath your feet as you walk out there. Ouch. This will definitely be a BLUE day for the kids meaning Blue signs are all over the doors allowing them to come in and stay in all day!
They said on the news that our bodies (being made up of 90% water) will freeze in a short time outside today (and over the past weekend). Since being a part of the street ministry van and becoming more aware of just how many people have no shelter, I am way more conscience of their lives as individuals. I can't stop thinking about them (and praying), wondering how many will actually survive this winter ( I have heard of one death already this weekend), feeling guilty/blessed (it is a bitter-sweet tension) for the warmth I enjoy and wishing I could do something significant to help.
We will be going out again on Thursday. Anyone in the area willing to go and help, let me know.

Winter is definitly a scary time for the homeless. I cannot imagine trying to survive cold Alberta winters outside. Bless their hearts. Thanks for this post and reminding all of us how lucky and blessed we are.
If I was in Cowtown I would love to come and help you out. However I think I am a little far:)
