Some Like it Hot

The other night I was browsing in the library with Julia. Because I already have a stack of books to get through, I headed toward the DVD section. They had quite a bit of old, old B&W movies that piqued my interest. I can't say I have ever sat through an old B & W movie before and thought I would give it a try. I picked up "Some like it Hot" a 1959 B&W starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

I thought it well deserved the four stars it received. It was good old fashioned fun.

Some facts from the vault:

  • According to I.A.L. Diamond, Tony Curtis` Josephine voice was dubbed by another actor as Curtis couldn`t speak high enough.
  • Billy Wilder decided to film Some Like It Hot in B & W to play down the garishness of Curtis`and Lemmon`s make-up.
  • In the scene where she talks to curtis on the phone, Monroe can be seen reading her lines from an off screen black board.

I am glad it is Friday and looking forward to a nice warm weekend. I can smell the steak on the BBQ already!
