The Champions!

I can't breathe! I can't breathe!!
Nail biting weekend.
Made it to the finals today.
Insanely intense.
A neck and neck, no giving up fight for the title.
One minute left in the game and we are down 2-1.
29 seconds left we score.
The clock runs out, it goes to a shoot out.
Crowds are wild.
It is one for one. One saves the other saves, one scores the other scores.
Now on round nine it is 2 for 2. The other team shoots first, we save it.
Joel gets his one and only chance at the shoot out.
The game now depends on him.
He shoots, he scores!!!
The game and tournament has been won!
The fans go wild.
Mommy cries.
A coach runs out and lifts Joel up on his shoulders.
The team celebrates as a group.
What a team! What an effort!
No better way to end the last game of the season.
Good Canadian hockey!

Being Me

Last night was the second game of the tourny. The boys played really well and again, it was super fun to watch. There weren't many parents in the stands of the other team, not sure why. Our parents all sat together and had a great time being loud together.

I am just so proud of Joel and how he has come along. He scored two goals last night playing centre. At the end of the game, they choose two players from each team to receive an award. Joel won last night for "Best Sportsman Like Player."

Back in the locker room he was receiving high-fives and congratulations. He just drank it all in without saying anything. Then, he sat down on the bench for Steve to take his skates off. Leaning back on the wall he says, "I just love being me!"

Way to go Joel! I hope we can continue to instill self-confidence in all of our children.

We're Lucky the House is Still Standing

So my dryer is fixed..hooray! Turns out it was a major fire hazard. I am actually looking forawrd to doing the laundry today since it won't take four days!

Made Mulligatawny Soup Wednesday night. It was soooo delish! Got tons left over to distribute. I am the only one who will eat it again. Jacob wouldn't even eat it the first day. He says every time I cook with that stuff (curry) the smell gives him a terrible headache. Steve is on a soup kick and has a list of the ones he wants to try to make. Mulligatawny was first.

We are in another tournament now. last night was the first game which ended in a tie. That's what I like. Joel came out with tons of treats and gifts from the tournament sponsors. Here they are after the game. Excuse the red dirty mouths, Ketchup chips was one of the treats.

I just love my kids to bits...they are my world!

One Down - Two to Go

This afternoon we finished the I Am Novice tournament. It was a great weekend. Thursday starts the next tournament and then Edmonton will finish the season.

Ten minutes after the game started I had to take Julia to a birthday party which was 25 mins. away. I missed the first two periods. Next weekend will be the same unless the game and party are timed differently.

I've got a busy (more than normal) week ahead so won't be around much.

Until next time...

Intensity!!!

Game 1 of the I Am Novice tournament was tonight. The excitement is unbearable. So thrilling and tense. Great entertainment. My throat hurts from cheering. Our boys were awesome and won 5-2 to a team that smoked us earlier in the season. Everyone played so well! Joel was on defense tonight and did a great job. The atmosphere was incredible with loud and fun music, horns for every goal and then announcing the players who scored and assisted. They even started with the national anthem. So cute!
