Saying Goodbye

Last night we had a year-end 'wind-up' party for Joel's hockey team. The kids played an hour of floor hockey together followed by dinner and presentations. The presentaion time was to honour the coaches and managers for all their hard work. They were given some great gifts from the team and parents.

This has been our third year in minor hockey and it has been by far the best experience. We had a great group of kids who all got along and played well together which made it hard for them to say goodbye last night. Thankfully some of them live close enough that Joel will be able to keep in touch over the summer. The managers and coaches were tops, keeping the game 'fun' and eveyone well organized.

The kids all came away with a colored yearbook, a video of the team throughout the year, a CD picture disc and a trophy. The trophy has their name engraved on it with the date and game of their first goal of the season. Very creative.

Something we weren't expecting was an awards presentaion sponsored by Esso. There were three awards to be given out. Joel won "most dedicated player". Unfortunately he was in the bathroom when they called his name. Poor guy was so embarrassed.

I never thought I could enjoy hockey so much.
